Der Lake Manapouri ist der zweittiefste See Neuseelands. Am Ende seines westlichen Arms befindet sich ein großes Wasserkraftwerk. Mit der Errichtung des Kraftwerks im Jahr 1959 wurde der Zugang zum Doubtful Sound (einem Fjord) verbessert. Es werden Führungen durch das Kraftwerk angeboten, oder Sie können den See mit dem Kajak oder einem Kreuzfahrtschiff erkunden.
