Die Brunner-Mine war ein Kohlebergwerk an der Westküste der Südinsel Neuseelands. Sie gehörte zu mehreren Minen, die am Ufer des Grey River in einem Gebiet namens „Coal Gorge“ zwischen den Ortschaften Stillwater und Taylorville lagen.
Dies ist eine der frühesten Industrieanlagen des Landes. Seit den 1860er-Jahren bis in die 1940er-Jahre wurde hier Kohle abgebaut und Produkte wie Koks, Schamottesteine und weitere Erzeugnisse hergestellt. Das Areal ist gut erschlossen und kann auf einem kurzen Rundweg erkundet werden, der an den historischen Koksöfen, der Ziegelfabrik und den Überresten der Stolleneingänge vorbeiführt.
Die Stadt Brunner liegt in der Nähe, und es gibt einen rund 2 km langen Rundweg um das ehemalige Minengelände. Es empfiehlt sich, mindestens eine Stunde für die Erkundung dieses historischen Ortes einzuplanen. (Hinweis: Obwohl der Rundweg etwa 2 km lang ist, kann das Gelände auch erkundet werden, ohne die gesamte Strecke zu laufen.)
